The name of our school originates from Arima-mura (village).
The name Arima comes from two old villages Aruka and Onma.
Arima-mura started in 1889, when eight villages such as Shake, Nakano, Sugikubo and so on, were consolidated. At the same time, nine villages such as Kokubu, Oya, Nakashinden and so on, turned to Ebina-mura.
In July, 1955, Arima-mura was combined with Ebina-mura, and Ebina-machi (town) was
formed. Since then we've not been able to see the name of Arima on any maps.
Our school has such a historical name that reminds us of the precious past.
Origin of the School Badge:
The school badge signifies three ginkgo leaves. The gingo tree, one of the oldest species indigenous to the Orient, has been growing for over 200,000,000 years. It is the Tree of Kanagawa Prefecture, found almost everywhere in our Prefecture. Our school symbol is thus devised so that our school will be among the leading high schools in the prefecture.
The three leaves of the design represents 'knowledge,' 'humanity,' and 'courage' with the interconnective circle of them standing for an ideal person harmoniously equipped with
those three virtues. This trinity also symbolizes the fields of education that the students of Arima High School are expected to embody: (1) intelligence, (2) morality, and (3) physical sturdiness.
